Busy busy busy

So my daddy reminded me again of my blog slack, so I decided to buck up a bit tonight. Last weekend was super busy. First off, Friday....it was one of my student's last day at SLP because his family is moving to Seoul. I didn't feel like teaching much, so I decided to take my class downstairs to Lotteria (which is like McDonalds) and have an ice cream party. We had a lot of fun and Tony (the boy who's leaving) was sure happy. He cried a little when he said goodbye and I will miss him even though these last few days with just 10 students has sure been great!! :)

My Pooh Bears waiting for their ice cream!!

Me with some of the kids. Elliott on the right is looking especially good!!

And here's Tony... he's the one who has left us!! We will miss him and his gongshowness!
I really have tried not to pick favorite here, but it's hopeless. Little Annika has stolen my heart!
This is Jasmine teacher. She helps me in my gym class and although her English isn't real strong, she is seriously such a sweet gal!! We have a lot of fun laughing and playing with the kids in gym.

Friday night, I got my hair done again... nothing special just some roots and a trim... I would really like to grow my hair out again though.. I am really missing my long hair. We'll see how I do in the next 7 months before I come home :)

Saturday morning, Hayli and I headed to Itaewon to book our tickets for Beijing. We had to get some passport photos taken and the Korean who did it was a real work of art. Hayli and I didn't even try to hide our laughter from the awkward things he was doing. He kept trying to fix Hayli's cowlick on her bangs for like 3 minutes and finally she said laughing "it really isn't gonna move" haha Then he was tring to adjust her shirt and got a lil uncomfortable with that.. I was just laughing on the side :) AND THEN.... WE BOOKED OUR TICKETS!!! We leave on Tuesday, July 28 at 9:25 a.m. and we are in Beijing for 5 days and 4 nights... we are sooooo excited and ready for vacation. This is what our schedule is like. We arive in Beijing at 10:40... from there we will go to a Chinese Circus show and dinner at a duck restaurant (which lynz said is not very good at all... we will see how that goes :)) Then on Wednesday we have a full day tour of the Great Wall of China.. including Ming 13 tombs, Hutong tour, bu lou, drum tower and shishahai lake area... I love how I sound like I know these places, but the only one I really know even just a little about is the Great Wall :) On Thursday we have a full day tour of the Forbidden City.. including the Tian'anmen Sauare, summer palace, dinner at Taejok Folk Restaurant and sightseeing at teajok folk show. On Friday we have a free day to do whatever we want... and I'm sure we will find some fun things to do.. oh Saturday we have the morning to do whatever and our flight leaves at 6:45 p.m. which is nice cuz then we have Saturday to play around too... so yah... I'm pumped to the max about this trip!!

Ok so back to my busy weekend. We came back from Itaewon and had to teach for 5 hours at school because our director and other SLP directors went on strike on Wednesday just for elementary classes. I don't know why they called it a strike because they made up the classes on Saturday but whatever. We got paid extra. I made $120 for doing classes and it was actually pretty fun too.

I rushed to Seoul after to hit up a Cafe Rio dinner party at Mitch's house, which was super fun!! It's so nice to just get away after a week of work and hang out with good, fun friends!!

On Sunday, Elizabeth, Dai, Diana, Bob, AJ, and a new investigator Rachel all went to PJ's for dinner. It was so fun to have PJ back and hang out at his house again. We had a great meal and played scripture scattegories... where AJ and I were partners and won the game woot woot. Then PJ had us all write 2 things nobody knows about us on two separate pieces of paper. So we all did it and then he'd call up 3 individuals to come up to the front and he'd read one of the papers and whoever was standing at the front had to try to convince everyone that it was their piece of paper/story. So we played it for a while and it was a lot of fun. The last paper, he had Diana, Liz and I standing at the front and he said "I'm reading this straight from the paper... I made out with 3 guys in 2 days".. we all were trying to act cool about it because we had to convince everyone that it was us... so all three of us came up with these intense stories and on the inside we were all thinking who would write that on a Sunday afternoon infront of all these people and admit to doing something soooo crazy... so we had all finished our stories and PJ asked the crowd who they thought it really was... and then PJ says 'HAHA I JUST MADE IT UP!!!!" brat!! but we were all laughing pretty hard about it. It was really a great night.

And that was my weekend. I'll do an update on this week later, cuz I have to get some pics off of Liz before I wanna blog about it hehe... Till next time... :)

Another late night with Liz

It's becoming a bit of habit for Liz and I to start cooking in the middle of the night... I think PJ has rubbed off on us a bit... he's always up in the middle of the night cooking some buns or desserts.
But this night, we were preparing for our Sunday dinner we had planned for the next day. We decided last minute on Saturday that we were gonna make a roast with potatoes, carrots, onions, salad, and beans.... oh and of course dessert.

All of our groceries!!!

We had to go get some eggs really late again, so we headed out in the rain to go to the store we had gone to the week before. Just before we headed out, I caught Liz putting on make-up... what the crap haha.... we then we got goofy putting on a little make-up and hair up... laughing up a storm.

CAUGHT!!!! Doing make up before we headed out at 1 a.m. hehe

"Lip gloss.... for shine" our famous quote of the night.

Well turns out the store was closed, so we stopped by this restaurant kitchen and asked some ladies if we could buy some eggs off of them... they were nice enough to charge us 1000 won for 2 eggs... we bought 4 and were on our way in the rain. We were jamming out to music and dancing and singing.

Our egg kitchen friends

We were so excited we got eggs

Going for a lil midnight run in the rain.

Doing some kung fu

Liz caught me snacking haha

Liz in her cooking gear!!

We had such a great night together and our dinner on Sunday went very well!!!

Dinner with Directors and Supervisors

So this past weekend was pretty busy... On Friday I went on a date with Bob. He took me to this park by the river and a blanket with dinner, a guitar, and his singing voice. We had a great time!! I didn't get any pics because I had left my camera at my house in Uijeongbu... oops!!

On Saturday, I was invited to go for a dinner with the Director Mr. Kim and his wife, my two supervisors, Shelly and Elisa, and 2 other foreign teachers who are both leaving in the next few weeks, Alicia and Lauren. We had a lot of fun!!

Some meat stuff and veggies... I liked the veggies :)

Mix of veggies

Lyndsey, I know you would love this!! Alicia ate an eye too.. yuck!!!

The food was super interesting and different, but I did my best to be adventurous and try a lot of new things. It was quite interesting. The restaurant set up was sooo cool. And the food just kept coming and coming and coming... I was full after the second serving of food.

Ummmm something pumpkin... haha it reminded me of sweet potatoes

This was for sure my FAVORITE dish... it was like chicken with pancake-type stuff that you wrapped the chicken in... it had kiwi sauce too... mmm mmm good.

Apparently kings ate this soup in the past... it was interesting for sure!!

This was like muchrooms and hamburger-like meat

It was fun to have a relaxed early afternoon with my boss and supervisors.

The whole crew: Elisa, Mrs. Kim, Alicia, me, Shelly, Lauren and Mr. Kim

Cookie Adventure :) and weekend fun!!

Ok so this past weekend was a lot of fun, which is a really good thing because my family back home were having a blast at a Smith family reunion, so I needed something to keep my mind off of the fact that I was gonna miss all the good times, but especially the talent show that I always seem to win at :) hehe jk

Ha Ha Elizabeth trying to mix our quadrupled recipe :)

So on Friday, I met up with Elizabeth at PJ and Lori's house. I got there at about 9 and she showed up at 10. We got to talk to my fam a bit on skype, which is always fun, and then we just got talking bout a whole bunch of things. Finally we decided... let's make some cookies. So we called my momma and had her email the recipe for her special 'Mrs. Field oatmeal chocolate chip' cookies. First, we had to make sure we had enough of all the ingredients... so we searched the house. Now, we didn't start this lil adventure until just after 12:00 a.m. We didn 't have enough eggs, so give up...nope.. we headed out in our pjs to find a corner store that may sell some legit eggs. We walked around for about 20 minutes before we found this lil ghetto store that had a flat of eggs and we were off.

Our first pan.... ya they were pretty stinking good

Liz and I had quite the night. Full of laughs and being goofy. So.... here's the blonde coming out. See when I called my mom to get the recipe, I kinda let my brain forget that most of my mom's cookie recipes are all ready doubled... well Liz and I wanted to make lots of cookies for the July 4th bbq we had on Saturday, so we decided to double the recipe we were given... which in fact was actually quadruple the original recipe... oops!! We only cooked half of the dough, which by the way we had to mix by hand mostly because there was too much... and we were up till 4:00 a.m. The next morning we both had to be up at 7:30... we were pooped :)

Liz went to the temple and I went to go and teach PJ's class at Jaida's school again. It went really well. It's nice to not have any pressure and just teach them whatever the heck I wanted to. After teaching, I headed back to PJ and Lori's to maybe lay down for a nap... well Liz showed up about 30 minutes after I got there and the talking and baking began again. I cooked the rest of the cookies while Liz put together a pasta salad. We got ready and headed to the bbq!

Jacqueline, Amy, Bob and I watching people jam out to Michael Jackson :)

I apparently was telling a VERY funny story :) This is Lea, Hayli and Jason (Lea and Jason are brother and sister from Utah and they're super fun!!)

It was a lot of fun!!! There were tons of people and Hayli, from school, actually came with me, which was super fun!! We ate and talked and then watched some fireworks, which I'm not even gonna try to make them sound ok... they were BRUTAL!!! haha but at least I got to see fireworks. That was my own Canada Day celebration, so it was fun!!

Here's some of the crew getting ready to watch the fireworks.

I loved seeing the fireworks even though they weren't that good. Had my baseball mit in hand too.. representing the Hill family softball team even though we didn't play this year :)

Then we headed back upstairs to play games and sing and dance.. it was quite the gong show, but I had lots of laughs. All in all it was a great weekend. On Sunday, we had break the fast, which was really good and church was amazing again!!

Happy Happy Birthday Lynz (and Canada)

So July 1st is a huge... I mean major holiday in the Hill home and I am sadly missing it. It's weird to think that I just finished working all day on a July 1st and didn't get to give a hug to any of my family. BUT I did get to talk to them all... I even got super lucky and was able to see my Grandpa and Grandma Smith, and my favorite lil cousin Alex, Taylor, Ty and Rhett and loved seeing Roger and Cheryl too... it was a great July 1st! Instead of going to the parade... I had open class where the parents can come in and watch your class. I had 8 parents sitting in my classroom as I taught my elementary class. I thought it was going to be very intense and uncomfortable, but I actually quite enjoyed myself!! It seemed that the parents all liked me too which is stellar.

Now July 1st is also a major day because it is my favorite oldest sister's birthday. Happy birthday Lynz!!! I just finished talking to her and she is looking just as beautiful as ever!!

I have the most stellar family. Lynz has always been there to give me advice on MANY different aspects of life. She is sooo incredibly smart, athletic, beautiful and an amazing mother and wife. We can be quite goofy together especially when you get all the Hill girls together, but we also really enjoy driving in a car with the tunes turned up seeing our hearts out and having good chats!!

When I first was thinking of coming to Korea, a big reason I didn't want to come is because I didn't want to follow exactly in Lynz' footsteps... but now... I totally do. Lyndsey has been such a great example of how to live a righteous life and I am so thankful for that!! I definately want to walk where she has walked and also trample my own path at times :)

Lynz --- You truly are amazing!! I love seeing you smile and love watching how you are with Beckam!! You really are so stellar!! I really am missing spending this day with you, but I know you will have such a good time (of course not as fun as it'd be if I were there)!!! Know that I love you and am loving walking in your footsteps over in Korea!! You rock!! Have a superb day and give lil Becks a kiss from his auntie!
